Difference between a DisplayPort and HDMI

Notably, regardless of the DisplayPort cable type, they are compatible with all devices that come with a DisplayPort connector. The main types of DisplayPort cable include a standard cable and a Mini DisplayPort that is a smaller version. The standard DisplayPort cable is more common, although the mini DisplayPort is also ideal, especially for smaller devices.
It is also important to note that these cables only differ in terms of size and shape. However, both the standard and mini cable performance are the same when it comes to the capabilities and functionality. For starters, a Display port cable offers numerous benefits such as greater bandwidth and expansive features, including the Thunderbolt. Currently, we have four DisplayPort versions. DisplayPort 1.2 is the earliest model with the capability of supporting 4K resolution at a 60Hz refresh rate. DisplayPort 1.3 soon followed with the capability of reaching up to 8K resolution at a 30Hz refresh rate. We also have the DisplayPort 1.4 support resolutions of 8K at a refresh rate of 60Hz. The latest DisplayPort is the 2.0 version with the capability of supporting a resolution of 16K with HDR at a refresh rate of 60Hz.
While not all devices come with a DisplayPort connector, today we have plenty of adapters and converters that you can use to connect your computer to your computer. These adapters will enable you to convert the signal from your HDMI, VGA, and DVI ports and transmit the HD signals using a DisplayPort cable. The best thing is that the converters do not affect the performance of the DisplayPort cable, meaning that you will achieve faster data transfer and refresh rates.
